Aegis Living Appoints Judy Meleliat as New Company President

Aegis Living has appointed its former Chief Marketing Officer Judy Meleliat to serve as the company’s new president, joining a handful of women C-suite leaders among the largest assisted living providers in the nation.

Aegis, which ranked No. 51 of the nation’s largest senior living providers in 2014 by the Assisted Living Federation of America, is based in Redmond, Wash., has a total of 2,272 units in resident capacity across 30 locations in Washington, California and Nevada.

In her new role as company president, Meleliat is one of just five C-suite executives in the top-45 assisted living companies, the company noted in its announcement.

Meleliat joined Aegis in 2010 as chief marketing officer and will replace former President and Chief Operating Officer Jerry Meyer in the position of president. In his former role, Meyer oversaw the company’s growth from operating 10 companies 13 years ago to 30 communities presently.

“I’m thrilled to have Judy as our new President so she can continue her integral role as a leader in our growth strategy, company culture, and overall success,” said Dwayne Clark, chairman and CEO of Aegis Living. “I am excited that she will lay the foundation for our future, staying in the forefront as an innovator and continuing to ensure we are an employee-first company.”

Prior to her work with Aegis, Meleliat served in executive leadership roles with global brands including Starbucks. As senior vice president of marketing and brand for the global coffee company, she worked on the roll out of the bottled Frappaccino as well as Starbucks ice cream. She has also worked with software provider Egghead and the InSpa franchise. She serves as a board member with FareStart, a non-profit that provides culinary job training and placement programs for disadvantaged and homeless individuals.
