AdCare Health Systems CEO Steps Down

AdCare Health Systems, Inc. (NYSE MKT: ADK), a long-term care provider, announced May 30 that Boyd P. Gentry stepped down from his role as CEO and President and as a member of AdCare’s Board of Directors.

Gentry will serve as consultant to AdCare through the end of August, but Board of Directors Chairman David A. Tenwick will serve as the company’s interim CEO and president. The leadership change took effect June 1. 

Covenant Retirement Communities Executive Named to New Position

Chicago-based Covenant Retirement Communities, Inc. recently appointed Executive Vice President of Operations Terri Cunliffe to the role of Chief Operating Officer.

Her new responsibilities include coordinating and overseeing the operations of Covenant Retirement Communities and its 15 retirement communities nationwide, as well as providing strategic planning, budgeting and hiring, and management of the Vice President of Operations and the department. 

Cunliffe brings to the position more than 25 years of management and leadership experience in the senior housing industry and spent most of that time at Covenant Retirement Communities.  

Love & Company Expands Team

Love & Company, a Maryland-based marketing, advertising and sales firm in the senior housing field, has hired five new employees in the past six months to join its growing team. In addition, two employees, Jessica Kraft and Christine Carruthers, were both promoted to director of strategic marketing and sales. 

Matt Bekelja, director of strategic marketing and sales, has been the vice president of client development at Varsity for more than five years. Bekelja also worked as the division leader for Cutting Edge Media, and specializes in research development and implementation, strategy creation, direct marketing, advertising, lead generation, and integrated marketing.

Lauren Pickard, strategic marketing administrative assistant, brings customer service experience to the organization, having worked as a licensed sales producer for Steve Dirk Allstate Agency, as a PNC Bank teller and as a self-employed dairy farmer. Pickard excels at internal communications, project management and paying meticulous attention to detail while multitasking.

Kayla Murphy, public relations and integrated media manager, brings expertise in social media, marketing and public relations to Love & Company. In her previous position with Meritus Health, Murphy’s responsibilities included building the majority of the company’s social media presence and overseeing the redesign, maintenance and strategic expansion of the company website.  

Crystal Groves, web developer and SEO/SEM manager, has 10 years of experience as a front-end developer. Groves has previously worked as a web project manager with a Baltimore-based firm, an Internet marketing project manager for Health Supplement Wholesalers, and front-end web developer and project manager for Enforme Interactive. Groves has earned multiple awards for her work, including a Webby and numerous Daveys and Addy awards. 

Kim Burrier, plan manager, brings marketing and communication experience to Love & Company, having previously worked in marketing and events for 98.5 The Peak, and acted as marketing manager for Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, and sales coordinator for Structural Systems. 

Jessica Kraft, a Love & Company employee for nearly 10 years, was recently promoted to director of strategic marketing and sales. Her responsibilities include leading the development and implementation of marketing and sales programs for senior living clients, heading the internal client service project team and working with all departments to ensure the marketing and sales programs are working effectively. 

Christine (Chris) Carruthers, hired in January as a sales and marketing specialist, has also been promoted to director of strategic marketing and sales. Carruthers brings 28 years of senior housing experience to the position, offering an informed perspective on selling strategies. Her background blends operational and marketing expertise in the areas of assisted living, independent living and health care communities nationwide.

Piedmont Gardens Names New Program Manager 

California-based Piedmont Gardens recently named Charlene Wolf program manager for the senior living community’s memory support residences, The Grove. Wolf brings to the position more than 30 years of experience working with older adults and a passion for serving those with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. 

One of Wolf’s responsibilities will be to oversee The Best Friends Approach, a program that focuses on building relationships with residents based on individual life stories and experiences. Employees working at The Grove will be a “best friend” with residents and are responsible for learning about the residents’ lives to provide a better senior living experience for them. 

New Director of Facilities Named at Devonshire at PGA National

Eddy Hernandez has been named the new director of facilities at Devonshire at PGA National, a retirement community in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla. Hernandez brings nearly 30 years of experience to the position and will be responsible for managing the overall general services division at the community, including housekeeping and engineering services, and leading the teams working on capital improvements and apartment home renovations in the community.

Before joining Devonshire, Hernandez was the director of facilities management at Covenant Village of Florida and the director of plant operations at Sunrise Community, Inc. in Miami, Fla. 

Hernandez serves as the vice president for the Florida Healthcare Engineering Association (FHEA) and is a FHEA Certified Healthcare Engineer.

Traditions of America Promotes Sara Kosteva to Director of Marketing

Sara Kosteva, who joined Traditions in 2010 as marketing manager, has been promoted to director of marketing, a position which gives Kosteva an increased budget responsibility and expanded duties related to hiring and training sales and marketing team members. 

Kosteva previously served as a marketing project manager for The Vanguard Group in Pennsylvania and was a principal at The Fae Group Graphic Design Company in Florida. 

The Lakes at Litchfield Hires Executive Director

Marcel Tremble has recently accepted the position of executive director at The Lakes at Litchfield, a retirement community in Pawleys Island, S.C. 

Tremble has more than seven years of experience in the health care industry and previously held the position of health care administrator at Brightwater, The Lakes at Litchfield’s sister senior living community in Myrtle Beach. 

The Landing at Williamsburg Village Welcomes New Executive Director 

John Croghan has been named executive director at The Landing at Williamsburg Village. Croghan has served in the senior living industry for more than 15 years and has experience in a continuum of care ranging from independent living to skilled care. 

Most recently, Croghan served as executive director of Immanuel Courtyard in Omaha, which offers apartment home options for those on a limited income. 

AHEPA Management Company Names New Manager

AHEPA Management Company (AMC), a property management firm, has hired Brooke Roberts as the quality assurance development manager.

Roberts’ responsibilities in this position include conducting quality assurance reviews and providing ongoing support for AMC’s quality assurance contracts to ensure HUD compliance in service coordination programs.

Previously, Roberts — who has 14 years of experience in social services — worked as a service coordinator manager at a national property management company in Indianapolis, Ind, and as a community relations representative for Total Longterm Care in Denver, Colo. 

She is a member of the American Association of Service Coordinators (AASC) and of the Indiana Association of Service Coordinators (INASC), for which she currently serves as Treasurer.

Forte Group, Inc. Announces Appointment of Senior Art Director

Erin Rex has been appointed as senior art director at Forte Group, Inc., a brand, marketing, digital and public relations agency which plans to expand its services and company growth. 

Rex brings to the position more than 20 years of professional design experience across all media, and will be responsible for all internal and client creative services, including digital and print marketing and branding materials. 

Rex previously worked as webmaster for the “Kidd Kraddick in the Morning” radio program and as art director for Quicksilver Interactive Group, focusing on the Blockbuster, RadioShack and CBS “Survivor” accounts. She has also done freelance graphic and web design work for Neiman Marcus, Comp USA and J.C. Penney.

Michigan Assisted Living Facility Announces Executive Director

Covenant Glen, a new 35,000-square-foot all-inclusive assisted living facility in Frankenmuth, Mich., has named Kristal Corrion as its executive director. 

Corrion, who brings to the position experience in human services, will be responsible for leading the staff in providing support services to residents and their families. She previously worked at Do-All, Inc. in Bay City, developing programs to assist struggling families. In addition, Corrion collaborated with community groups in the region to advocate and aid families. 

Intel-GE Care Innovations Hires Chief Marketing Officer 

Care Innovations, a joint venture between Intel Corporation and GE Healthcare, recently announced Karissa Price-Rico, Ph.D., as its Chief Marketing Officer. 

Price-Rico was co-founder and CEO of The Trusted Hands Network, the first national, certified network of home care agencies and service providers to help consumers age in place. Prior to founding Trusted Hands, Price-Rico served for nine years as vice president of growth initiatives at a consumer products and financial services provider and advertiser in the U.S. Hispanic market. She also worked for The Boston Consulting Group in Los Angeles.
