Developers to Break Ground on Rural Louisiana Assisted Living

LaCour Health Care Center, LLC, will host a groundbreaking ceremony on December 10 for a new 60-unit assisted living community to be located in New Roads, Louisiana.  

The community, LaCour House, will be a 59,560-square-foot project that is part of the USDA Rural Development Business and INdustry program, which provides technical assistance and financial backing for rural businesses. 

LaCour House will include 46 apartment in studio, one- and two-bedroom styles, as well as a memory care wing with 14 studio apartments. 

Amenities include enclosed courtyards, two dining rooms, beauty/barber shop, library and computer center, wellness activity enter, café, TV and game room. Unit features include kitchenettes, large closets and bathrooms with roll-in showers.

Financing for the $9.7 million project will be provided through The Cottonport Bank.

Architects for the project are Gasaway, Gasaway and Bankston of Hammon, Louisiana. The contractor is MD Descant of Bunkie, Louisiana. 

The project is scheduled to be completed by March 2015. Upon completion, LaCour House will be managed by Concepts in Community Living, Inc. 

Brookdale Plans Expansion of Milwaukee Assisted Living Community

An Brookdale Senior Living-operated assisted living community in Brookfield, Wisconsin, is planning to expand, reports Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal Sentinel.

The two-story, 60-unit community is proposing an expansion that includes a new wing of 28 memory care units. If the proposal is approved by the town’s Planning Commission, Brookdale could begin construction by next spring on the one-story addition. 

Hartland, Wisconsin-based architectural firm PDC Midwest Inc. is also working on the project. 

Clearpath Senior Holdings Receives Approval for $6 Million Project

St. Louis-based Clearpath Senior Holdings received approval from the state of Missouri for its Certificate of Need this week to build an assisted living community in Richmond, Missouri, Richmond News reports.

Groundbreaking on the $6 million, 50-bed project is scheduled for March, according to developers, however, the project may be delayed due to a length tax abatement process. 

The development site formerly belonged as part of the United Christian Presbyterian Church, but was sold to the city in November 2011.

LCB Senior Living and Congress Companies to Build New Assisted Living Project

LCB Senior Living, LLC, has selected Peabody, Massachusetts-based company Congress Building Corp. to provide construction management services for a new assisted living community in Avon, Connecticut. 

The Residence at Brookside will sit on a three-acre site, encompassing 62,500-square-feet. It will feature 74 assisted living, independent living and Reflections memory care apartments. 

Community design incorporates traditional New England style with Connecticut Brownstone elements and will feature lounges, libraries, a walking courtyard, full-service restaurant, among other amenities. The development site will also feature a park for public use along Simsbury Road. 

The Residence at Brookside is scheduled for completion in early 2015. 

Affordable Senior Housing Underway in Guam

More than 200 affordable senior homes for seniors will be available in Guam by next year, reports Guampdn.com.

Developers broke ground in November for Summer Town Estates, a senior housing development that will consist of 240 single-story, one- to two-bedroom units, according to the Guam Housing and Urban Renewal Authority (GHURA) in the article.

The development is being build through a tax credit program and has already received millions of dollars from various investors. 

In August, Tamuning, Guam-based Core Tech Development was awarded $5.9 million in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits from the GHURA. The company has already spent $7 million on the infrastructure for the development and plans to spend an additional $26 million to build the first phase of the project. 

Core Tech says the one-bedroom units are expected to rent for $527 per month, while the two-bedroom units will rent for $630 per month.

Pennrose Debuts Affordable Senior Housing Apartments in Philadelphia

Pennrose, a Philadelphia based developer of seniors and multifamily housing, is expanding its presence in New England with The Jefferson, an affordable senior apartment complex located in New Britain, Connecticut.

Currently under construction, The Jefferson is being developed in conjunction with the New Britain Housing Authority and will be professionally managed by Pennrose, which operates more than 150 affordable, market rate senior communities in eight states.

Project plans detail 70 apartments located within a three-story building with elevators and spacious floor plans. The community will also feature wall-to-wall carpeting in unit bedrooms with modern kitchens fully equipped, including dishwashers and Energy Star appliances. 

Eight of the apartments will be handicap accessible and all units have 24-hour emergency call systems in both the bedrooms and bathrooms. 

The Jefferson’s location is minutes from downtown New Britain and is near shipping, dining and entertainment, with the CT Transit bus service providing pick-up at the community’s front entrance. 

Residents of The Jefferson will also be able to enjoy a state-of-the-art fitness center, outdoor patio with picnic area, on-site laundry facilities and a community room that can be used for entertaining family and friends.

First move-ins for The Jefferson are expected in December. Rents are affordable and vary depending on tenant income.

Touchstone Communities Opens Skilled Nursing Facility in Texas

San Antonio, Texas-based Touchstone Communities Tuesday officially opened a skilled nursing facility (SNF) in Tomball, Texas, which is part of the Houston metropolitan area. 

The Heights of Tomball Rehabilitation and Nursing is a 131-bed community with 30 private rooms, all with private baths. The community includes outdoor gardens and walking tracks, a private beauty salon, as well as indoor day rooms with kitchens. 

“Services at The Heights of Tomball will be beyond what the people in this part of Tomball and the surrounding areas have ever seen,” said Touchstone CEO Stan Studer Jr. “We are proud to be helping the people of this area and their families who need rehabilitation and long-term care services as well as supporting the economic growth in the Tomball and surrounding areas by employing nearly 150 team members.”
