Time Warner Cable Enters Home Health with New Telehealth Launch

Time Warner Cable, one of the largest national providers of cable television, announced this week the launch of a new home health telemedicine program with Cleveland Clinic.

Time Warner Cable Business Class (TWCBC)—a division of Time Warner Cable—announced Monday the start of its “Virtual Visit” home health monitoring program.

The “Virtual Visit” program enables Cleveland Clinic healthcare professionals to deliver services remotely to a patient’s home, interacting via television-equipped video conferencing technology.

This two-way video interaction allows patients to speak and engage with a care provider using a secure, encrypted video solution from the comfort of their own homes.

The service is offered as a fully contained, bundled offering, which includes connectivity, installation and on-site equipment such as modems and video camera. The solution also provides technical support for patients at home if need be.

Time Warner Cable operates in 29 states and has 31 operating divisions. Utilizing the cable provider’s robust network will offer a scalable and secure solution that will help maximize patient satisfaction, company officials believe.

“Our healthcare solutions are designed to support medical providers looking to transform the delivery and quality of patient care by leveraging our advanced technology, operational scale and high speed network,” said Greg King, senior vice president and chief product and strategy officer for TWCBC.

Home health monitoring solutions such as the “Virtual Visit” program are new TWCBC solutions co-developed and trailed with healthcare stakeholders to meet the emerging needs of the industry.

“To truly transform the healthcare system of today and prepare us for the healthcare needs of tomorrow, we have to rethink how, and where, we deliver care to patients,” said Dr. Eiran Gorodeski, MD, director of Center for Connected Care at Cleveland Clinic. “We know that great care can be delivered where patients want to be the most: in their homes, and we see telemedicine as a way to help us do that better and more efficiently.”
