The new complex would feature 31 townhouse units in ranch and two-story buildings, with four to six units in eight standalone buildings—each containing two or three bedrooms each.

Also included in the living community would be 80 independent living units, 30 assisted living units and 30 memory care units in a new three-story building.

Project developers believe the location for the senior living community is ideal, given its proximity to the various medical centers, including the Cleveland Clinic.

Texas Senior Housing Project Making Slow, Steady Progress

Members of the Kaufman City Council in Texas approved the first zoning change for a multi-family housing complex aimed at seniors, but it may take six months until the project receives a building permit, reports The Kaufman Herald.

The zoning change looks to add a sliver of land once owned by the city m bringing the project’s total to 2.46 acres.

The City and developers—Robert and Jualine Eldridge—reached an agreement in January, whereby the City deeded the piece of land to developers in exchange for the Eldridges bearing the cost of relocating water and sewer lines that ran through the entire parcel.

A meeting last week formally added that agreement to the Planned Development-12 zoning for the project.

Additional amendments to the plan also added seven months to the period to submit the preliminary and final plans.
