While a number of factors go into deciding the right place to live, some might be more important than most, and a recent ranking from NerdWallet for best retirement locations for baby boomers weights cost of living the heaviest.
NerdWallet crunched the numbers to find the best places for boomers to retire, keeping in mind low costs and this demographic’s desires to maintain an active social life.
Affordability was the primary factor in NerdWallet’s research, along with healthcare accessibility, opportunities for social engagement and proximity to public transportation.
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania topped the list, as over a quarter of the city’s population is between the ages of 50 and 70 and health providers are highly accessible with a proportion of 415 physicians per 100,000 residents.
The city also provides numerous learning institutions for those who want to continue their educations, ranging subjects from architecture to religion. A nearby cultural district also showcases theater, music and art.
