Colorado Senior Housing Expo to Launch in May—Book Now

NewImageWith thousands of units currently in various stages of development, the Colorado market is positioned for a senior housing boom. Partly due to an influx of baby boomers’ children gravitating to Denver and other metro areas and attracting their aging parents, the marking is anticipating big demand for properties in the very near future.

Offering insight into the trend in senior housing and real estate development is the first-ever Senior Housing Conference & Expo presented by the Colorado Real Estate Journal and Husch Blackwell on Tuesday, May 14

The event marks Colorado’s largest gathering of senior housing developers, investors, operators, brokers, lenders and other real estate professionals.

“The development environment for new retirement housing and care facilities for older market segments is extremely active in Colorado right, now, particularly in the Denver metro area,” says Elisabeth Borden, principal, the Highland Group. “We are tracking thousands of units in various stages of development – much of that new development is assisted living and memory care, with a heavy focus on memory care.”

The conference agenda includes speakers from senior housing management and leadership on operations trends, development and finance strategies, and both affordable senior housing construction.

“The real estate development community is very nterested in senior housing,” says Kevin Kelley, partner at Husch Blackwell. “A conference like this is the opportunity to learn more about it and meet others in this industry.”

Spanning a half day, the conference will introduce those interested in the Colorado market to the arising opportunities there, Borden says.

“Some big trends are driving demand for housing for empty nester and younger retiree households in the Denver area. As the state with the 4th highest proportion of Baby Boomers, huge numbers are moving into the 55+ age group,” she says. “This population growth, combined with big generational changes, is creating tremendous opportunity for new approaches, as well as for traditional retirement and care options.”
