Nursing Home Operator Pays $23 Million for Two Senior Care Facilities

Athena Health Care Systems acquired two Massachusetts senior care facilities last month for a total of $23 million, according to HartfordBusiness.com

The Farmington, Conn.-based nursing home operator acquired Radius HealthCare Centers, which includes nursing homes in Worcester and Southbridge, according to the state Registry or Deeds.

The Radius facility at Southbridge is a 48,602-square-foot building that sold for $13.6 million. The Worcester facility is 63,810 square feet and sold for $9.6 million. Each facility has 144 beds and offers both short-term and long-term skilled care, with a specialization in intravenous therapy, tube feedings, and pain management.

“We look forward to expanding and providing quality services to the former Radius HealthCare Centers,” said Athena President and CEO Lawrence Santilli in a statement. “Athena will continue to strive and meet the needs of our residents to enhance the quality of life.”
