Healthcare Compensation Firm Releases CCRC Report; Modest Gain for HR Directors

Directors of Human Resources working in continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) saw their salaries rise an average of 2.74% in 2012, according to the 2012-2013 CCRC Salary & Benefits Report, published recently by Hospital & Healthcare Compensation Service (HCS) in cooperation with nonprofit senior living trade group LeadingAge.

The national average salary for HR directors rose to $70,899 in 2012 compared to $69,011 in 2011. The current increase is consistent with that of previous years: a 2.1% growth in 2011, and 2.82% in 2010.

These increases represent only the CCRCs that participated in both the 2011 and 2012 reports; 523 communities took part in HCS’s 15th annual study, which provides compensation data on 87,300 employees and covers 42 management and 45 non-management positions.

The national average bonus reported for Director of Human Resources was $6,555, or 8.3% of salary.

HCS also notes that average vacancy rate and length of time to fill a position declined in 2012 for all positions, except for therapy and environmental services employees.

The healthcare salary and benefits research firm released its Assisted Living Salary & Benefits Report in February.
