Benchmark Adds CCRC to its New England Portfolio for $71.5 Million

Benchmark Senior Living announced on Tuesday that it has completed a transaction to acquire Edgehill Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) from Stamford Health System for $71.5 million.

Edgehill, located in Stamford, Conn., is Wellesley, Mass.-based Benchmark’s sixteenth Connecticut location.

“We’re working closely with Benchmark to ensure this transition goes as smoothly as possible,” said Kathleen Silard, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer at SHS in a statement. “We’ve had a great relationship with Edgehill’s residents and families, and our goal is to maintain those relationships with members of the healthcare community we serve.”

Benchmark is a well-suited successor to Stamford Health System for a number of reasons, said Silard, with its reputation for providing quality care, a tradition of providing resident-centered services, a strong New England focus, and a solid financial background.

At the time of the ownership transfer, Edgehill had a 95% occupancy.
