Texas-based Prevarian Senior Living is growing through both expansion and construction in response to what it calls an ongoing need for high-quality senior living facilities in the Texas area considering high senior-citizen populations.
Prevarian, a national real estate development and investment firm which designs and builds senior living facilities, is pairing with Sears Methodist Retirement System to expand the Parks Methodist Retirement Village in Odessa, Tex., a city which U.S. Census Data says has a 12% senior population. Prevarian says the expansion will add 150 new units which will include a single-story assisted living building and state-of-the-art independent living apartment building.
The $25 million project will include a 70-unit assisted living building featuring 30 units for memory care, and an 80-unit independent living apartment building, says Prevarian; amenities will include a new dining hall, salon and spa, exercise center, library, computer room and Wi-Fi service. The existing retirement facility currently consists of 55 independent living homes, 23 assisted living units and 90 skilled nursing beds.
On the building front, Prevarian and TRISUN Healthcare recently began construction on a Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care facility in Austin, Tex. Plans for the 90,000 square foot facility, which will be staffed by about 65 full-time employees, include 102 assisted living units, 32 of which will be dedicated to memory care residents.
TRISUN is a subsidiary of Austin-based Harden Healthcare, and it manages skilled nursing, rehab and assisted living centers throughout Texas; it will manage the Wyoming Springs facility once it is completed. Prevarian, which owns the facility, says accommodations will include small and large private suites, and one- and two-bedroom units with en-suite bathrooms, and amenities will include stainless steel refrigerators and microwaves, walk-in closets and emergency call systems in each unit.
“Seniors are the fastest-growing population segment in the U.S. Our goal with Wyoming Springs Assisted Living and Memory Care is to create a secure and caring environment while also promoting a community feel with the comforts of home,” Dodd Crutcher, president of Prevarian Senior Living, said. “This community will offer an ideal living arrangement for residents who need daily assistance, designed with a unique neighborhood concept that allows seniors to feel like they are part of an active community.”
