AARP’s Inside E Street looks at the shifting needs of senior housing as the first group of Boomers reaches the retirement age this year.

AARP’s Lark McCarthy talks to Mary Jo Peterson, interior design consultant, and Andrew Carle, founding director of the program in Senior Housing Administration at George Mason University, about cutting-edge housing trends that may become more popular and available in the near future.

When it comes to the different options boomers are looking for, Peterson says builders aren’t always providing what they want.

“The builders are trying to guess what they want,” she says.  “They’re not always on the same page as the boomers.”
