It’s A Wonderful Life! Gala Raises Nearly $200,000 For Seniors

PVMPresbyterian Villages of Michigan Foundation raised nearly $200,000 at the seventh annual It’s a Wonderful Life! Gala fundraiser. The event featured keynote speaker Secretary William S. Cohen, former U.S. Secretary of Defense and Senator from Maine. More than 600 guests from throughout the state enjoyed the evening at The Westin Book Cadillac in Detroit.

Proceeds from the event will benefit the needs of more than 3,500 Presbyterian Villages of Michigan (PVM) residents and community seniors including quality affordable housing and innovative services such as technology, wellness, transportation, and many other life enhancing programs.

Chuck Stokes, Editorial/Public Affairs Director, WXYZ-TV/Channel 7 served as Master of Ceremonies. Stokes has held this position since October 1987 and serves as moderator and producer of "Spotlight On The News," Detroit’s longest-running weekly news and public affairs show.

“We were fortunate to have Secretary Cohen as our keynote,” states Melinda Conway Callahan, President, PVM Foundation. “He brought a national perspective to Michigan in terms of both public policy in aging and why nonprofits like PVM are so important in today’s society.”

The event co-chairs were Dick and Phyllis Rabbideau of Marshall, Michigan, and Jim and Martha Nield of Northville, Michigan. Premiere Presenting Sponsor was Morrison Senior Dining. The event was themed Made in Michigan and highlighted products, companies, destinations and people that have and continue to make Michigan a great state. The gala featured a Card Auction Raffle, dinner and keynote address.
