Edgemere Residents Get “Carried Away” with Red Carpet Screening of Award Winning Movie

To kick off their 2010 Memory Walk campaign, Edgemere senior living community, along with the Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC) Charitable Foundation, recently hosted residents to an exclusive screening of the award winning movie “Carried Away.”  The red carpet was rolled out in true Hollywood style to welcome “Carried Away” director Tom Huckabee and cast members as well as John Gilchrist, executive director of the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer’s Association.  A silent auction was held during the event with all donations contributing to the fight to end Alzheimer’s disease.  A champagne reception along with gourmet popcorn and cookies in the shape of academy awards were served to all movie goers.

“Our residents enjoyed being able to interact with the cast and learn more about the movie,” said John Falldine, managing director for Edgemere.  “It was wonderful having representatives from the Alzheimer’s Association there, as Edgemere has developed a wonderful relationship with the organization throughout the years.”

In 2008, SQLC founded the SQLC Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that provides grants to support programs and services that advance the interests of seniors, from Alzheimer’s research to education.
