New Report Examines Why Wealthy Keep Working in Retirement

Why do those who have substantial wealth choose to keep working during their retirement years?  Are they genetically engineered to keep on going like the Energizer Bunny?  A new report from Barclays looks at the “Nevertiree entrepreneur” that keeps on plugging away into their retirement years.  The report found that 54% of millionaires want to continue working in retirement and finds familiar themes as baby boomers and seniors look to re-invent themselves and their careers: a drive to contribute, stay engaged in society and that work provides social opportunities.  For these Alpha’s, the fun of working blends in with their lives and defines them.  This type of group might be living to work rather than other retirees who’ve decided they’ve worked long enough.
