Congressman Steny Hoyer Visits Riderwood to Tout His “Make it in America” Agenda

Congressman Steny Hoyer (D), 5th Congressional District of Maryland, visited Riderwood to discuss issues and answer questions from hundreds of residents who packed the campus’ Encore Theater. The Congressman, who was invited by the resident-run Democratic Club of Riderwood, used the occasion to tout his “Make it in America” agenda.

Hoyer said everyone needs to get a psychological edge on the national economy and commit themselves to improving the situation. This, he said, includes a collective determination to make ‘it’ – inclusive of products and services –  in America. He said products need to be manufactured in America and purchased by consumers.

“We can make things better economically and we can ‘make it’ in America,” the Congressman said, noting a 25% growth in the economy in the past four quarters, , “if we re-instill the faith in America that this can be done.” He pledged to do whatever it takes to help move the economy forward.

The Democratic Club of Riderwood serves the interests of the nation through the pursuit of policies that reflect members’ concern with the well-being of all people and the welfare and dignity of the population of the United States of America.
