Health Care REIT, Inc. Appoints Stephanie Anderson as Chief Acquisitions Officer & Mercedes Kerr as Senior Vice President – Marketing

Health Care REIT, Inc. (NYSE:HCN) announced today that Stephanie Anderson has been named chief acquisitions officer – senior housing. As part of Health Care REIT’s senior housing division, Ms. Anderson will implement and contribute to the achievement of the company’s senior housing investment and growth objectives.  Ms. Anderson has nearly 20 years of experience in the health care real estate industry. Most recently, Ms. Anderson was managing director, real estate for GE Capital – Health Care Financial Services, where she led acquisitions of health care properties.

In addition, Health Care REIT announced the promotion of Mercedes Kerr to the position of senior vice president – marketing. Ms. Kerr has been integral to Health Care REIT’s success by establishing and developing key customer relationships. In her expanded role, Ms. Kerr will continue to manage these relationships, and will also play a central role in developing new investment programs and strategies.

 

Enterprise Community Partners Board of Trustees Names Terri L. Ludwig President and CEO

The Board of Trustees of Enterprise Community Partners, Inc., announced that it has appointed Terri L. Ludwig as the new president and CEO effective January 1, 2011. Ludwig has 25 years of experience in investment banking and nonprofit leadership and served most recently as executive vice president and chief operating officer at Enterprise starting in 2009.  From 2002 to 2009, Ludwig served as president of the Merrill Lynch Community Development Company, where she led community development, committed over $2 billion in loans and investments, and launched a successful social investment platform for Merrill Lynch’s private clients.

Prior to Merrill Lynch, Ludwig was the president & CEO of ACCION New York, the largest nonprofit micro-lender in the United States, whose mission is to lend small business owners the capital and support they need to achieve success. Following the Sept. 11 tragedy, Ludwig mobilized a team to establish the American Dream Fund, a disaster relief fund delivering loans and technical assistance to small business owners who lost their livelihoods in the disaster.

Prior to her work at ACCION, Ludwig launched a highly successful international sales effort for Global Foreign Exchange at Credit Suisse First Boston with offices in London, New York and Hong Kong. She also spent eight years with Merrill Lynch in the Structured Investment and Global Foreign Exchange groups, creating global investment strategies for institutional clients, including hedge and mutual funds, central banks, and corporations.

Ludwig is an appointee to the U.S. Department of the Treasury Advisory Board for Community Development and Financial Institutions and the co-chair of the board of ACCION USA. She serves on numerous executive and advisory boards and was selected for the Social Innovation Fellowship for Nonprofit Leaders at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and the David Rockefeller Fellows Program.

A native of Mount Vernon, Ill., Ludwig holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a master’s degree from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government. She is married and has two children.

 

PEP Housing Exec Named 2010 Pioneer in Affordable Housing

The Affordable Housing Management Association of Northern California, Nevada and Hawaii (AHMA-NCNH) has named PEP Housing Executive Director Mary Stompe the 2010 Pioneer in Affordable Housing.  Mary Stompe won this award for her undaunted commitment to affordable housing, which began approximately 14 years ago when she founded the Petaluma affiliate of Rebuilding Together, a non-profit organization that assists low-income seniors with no-cost home repairs, allowing them to remain in their home. She was president for several years and served on the board of directors for six years.

Mary served on the Petaluma City Council from 1995-1998. During that time, she became aware of the organization she now runs, PEP Housing. Mary was hired as the executive director of PEP Housing on October 1, 2004. Mary has served on Aging Services of California’s Housing Subcommittee for four years and currently chairs that committee. She also served on the Aging Services’ Annual Conference Committee in 2007, has made presentations and served as a moderator at Aging Services conferences, including the Public Policy Conference and Annual Conference. In May 2010, Mary Stompe joined the board of directors of Aging Services of California.

 

Rita Files Receives Accreditation as Claims Agent by Veterans Affairs

Rita Files, partner and chief operating officer of Aging with Grace, has been designated an Accredited Claims Agent by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs. As a VA Accredited Claims Agent, Ms. Files can help veterans and their families apply for VA benefits, including often under-utilized long-term care benefits.  Ms. Files joined Aging with Grace in 2008 as partner. Today, as chief operating officer, she directs the veteran’s services practice and serves as a nationally recognized expert on caring for the elderly. Ms. Files is a graduate of Union College.

Watermere at Southlake recently named Becky Delashmit director of catering and events. Delashmit has extensive industry experience and most recently served as the dietary director at Emeritus – Oak Hollow Special Care, as well as Hearthstone Assisted Living in Bedford, Texas. She received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, AL.

 

BIA/SC 50+ Housing Council Awards Education Scholarship Joe Digrado of Danielian Associates, Architects in Irvine Named 2010 Recipient

The 50+ Housing Council Board, a special interest council of the Building Industry Association of Southern California, announced at its August breakfast meeting that Joe Digrado of Danielian Associates, Architects in Irvine, is recipient of the its 2010 Education Scholarship.  Digrado recently completed all three NAHB required courses for the Certified Active Adult Specialist in Housing (CAASH) designation, which gives housing professionals the essential knowledge, tools and skills to succeed in the fastest-growing segment of the housing industry.  Digrado was selected based upon his professional goals, demonstration of personal commitment, value of the courses to his career advancement, and likelihood of contribution to the seniors housing industry.

The Legacy at Willow Bend Names Lisa Harris Lifestyle and Member Assistance Coordinator

Courtesy Legacy Willow Bend Lisa Harris has been named lifestyle and member assistance coordinator of The Legacy at Willow Bend, Plano’s first and only life care retirement community. The announcement was made by Lana Van Giesen, executive director of The Legacy Senior Communities, Inc.  Harris joins The Legacy at Willow Bend from Double Tree Hotel in Dallas where she was the catering sales manager, developing social and wedding markets for the hotel. Previously, she worked as an account executive for the PR and marketing firm Group W Associates, LLC where she coordinated events and distributed her clients’ news to the media.
