Enterprise Begins Construction on Affordable Senior Housing Community in Maryland

Enterprise Homes, Inc. recently announced that it has begun the construction on a 4.1 acre property in Anne Arundel County’s Brooklyn Park for a $14.5 million project consisting of 90 units of affordable rental housing for low- and moderate-income seniors.  The Greens at Hammonds Lane, a four story building, is expected to open in summer of 2011 and will be managed by Habitat America.

The development is also designed to meet the requirements of the Enterprise Green Communities Criteria with several features focusing on energy efficiency and conservation of raw materials including: energy efficient double pan windows, water conserving plumbing fixtures, Energy Star appliances and energy saving light fixtures.  Funding for The Greens at Hammonds Lane comes from Capital One, who is providing both debt and equity to the development. Additional funding includes Anne Arundel County HOME Funds through Arundel Community Development Services, a MEEHA grant administered through the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development, and syndication of tax credit equity through Enterprise Community Investment, Inc.
