Magnolia LTC Management Services Inc. (Magnolia) is pleased to announce that Chet Laws has joined the firm as business development manager. Mr. Laws began his insurance career at Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company in 1985. He has been on the brokerage consulting side of the insurance industry for the past 13 years, spanning both the property and casualty and employee benefits arenas. Senior Living Communities Recognizes Employees For WAVES Program
Senior Living Communities recently recognized employees Kelly Stranburg, Tonya Ray and Katie Huffstetler for making an outstanding contribution to the senior living industry. The women received a Supernova award for their participation in implementing and promoting the company’s WAVES program, which is an aquatic therapy class designed to reduce symptoms associated with dementia. The program earned Senior Living Communities its first “Best of the Best” award in 2010 from the Assisted Living Federation of America.
Querencia at Barton Creek Names Patience Buchanan as Associate Executive Director
Querencia at Barton Creek senior living resort has named Patience Buchanan as associate executive director. The announcement was made by Ross Dickmann, executive director of Querencia. Buchanan returns to Querencia after previously holding the position of director of social services, where she coordinated all aspects of healthcare admissions and discharges. Prior to joining Querencia, Buchanan served at SouthernCare, Inc. where she provided emotional support and practical assistance to patients and families as their hospice social worker. She has extensive experience in the administration of health services, including the senior care sector.
Buchanan also has experience as a brain injury rehabilitation case manager, as well as a program specialist, planner and project manager for the Texas Department of Human Services. She is a Licensed Master Social Worker and holds a master of science in social work from the University of Texas at Austin.
Galloway Named Director of Marketing and Sales at The Legacy Senior Communities
Kim Galloway has been named director of marketing and sales of The Legacy Senior Communities, Inc. The announcement was made by Michael Ellentuck, president of The Legacy Senior Communities, Inc.
With more than 15 years of experience in marketing and sales, Galloway joins The Legacy Senior Communities, Inc. with an impressive background. Galloway spent seven years as the senior professional sales representative for Johnson & Johnson in Frisco. Previously, she carried the title of area director of sales and marketing for Marriott Senior Living Services for four years. Galloway also worked as marketing and admissions director of Heritage Western Hills, a skilled nursing facility, as well as marketing and admissions coordinator for Advanced Care Centers of America L.C.
Erickson Living Names Jason Longwell the Sales Director For Silver Spring’s Riderwood
Erickson Living has named Jason Longwell the Sales Director for Riderwood located in Silver Spring, MD. Longwell has been instrumental in a variety of sales projects and programs at the Erickson corporate office in Catonsville, MD, this past year. Most recently, he has worked with the Central Services team to improve sales processes and reporting requirements. Longwell joined Erickson in 2007 and has served as Associate Sales Director at the Wind Crest retirement community in Colorado. Longwell’s past experience also includes work at Presidio Corporation where he served as an Account Director. In addition, he has served served four years at Northrop Grumman as a Senior Inside Sales Representative and as an Account Manager. Longwell holds a BA from the University of Delaware.
