MIRADOR SENIOR LIVING COMMUNITY NAMES WENDY GAINAN DIRECTOR OF SALES AND MARKETING

Mirador has announced the appointment of Wendy Gainan as director of sales and marketing. The appointment was announced by Tony Snyder, Regional Marketing Manager of Greystone Communities, Inc.  Gainan is a native of Corpus Christi.  She attended Texas A&M University Corpus Christi, where she earned her undergraduate degree in elementary education and her master’s degree in mid-management and curriculum education.  Gainan served the Corpus Christi community for 26 years as a teacher and middle school principal for Corpus Christi Independent School District, and worked with Houghton Mifflin as a sales counselor for the West Texas region.  With real estate experience in Corpus Christi, Gainan now uses her in-depth knowledge about the Corpus Christi community and area seniors as the director of sales and marketing at Mirador.

“Wendy is the ideal choice to lead Mirador marketing now as we move into the exciting next phase of construction,” said Snyder. “She was key in bringing Mirador this far and her ability to inform the public about what Mirador has to offer has only improved.”

Amica Mature Lifestyles Announces New Chief Financial Officer

Amica Mature Lifestyles Inc. (“Amica” or the “Company”) recently announced the appointment of Mr. Arthur (Art) Ayres, CA as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) and Corporate Secretary of Amica.  Mr. Ayres will assume the position of CFO and Corporate Secretary as of December 16, 2009. Mr. Ayres has served as a CFO and in other executive capacities for over 25 years. His experience is wide ranging, having worked in various industries with both public and private companies.

Most recently, Mr. Ayres held the position of Senior Vice President Finance, CFO and Corporate Secretary for MIGENIX Inc., a Canadian public biotech company. In this position, Mr. Ayres was responsible for the overall financial management of the company. Previously, Mr. Ayres served as Controller with Pacific Western Realty Corporation, a private company focused on commercial and residential property development and management. Mr. Ayres has been a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of B.C. since 1985, and began his financial career with Thorne Riddell Chartered Accountants. Mr. Ayres holds a Bachelor of Arts (Commerce and Computer Science) degree from Simon Fraser University.

Emeritus Announces Appointment of Chief Financial Officer

Emeritus Corporation (NYSE: ESC), a national provider of assisted living and Alzheimer’s and related dementia care services to senior citizens, today announced the appointment of Mr. Robert Bateman to the position of Executive Vice President – Finance and Chief Financial Officer effective December 21, 2009.

Mr. Bateman has significant experience as a senior financial executive and over the past 13 years has served as the Chief Financial Officer for such companies as VisionGate, Inc., Fisher Communications, Inc. (NASDAQ: FSCI), and two other NASDAQ-listed companies – Applied Microsystems Corporation and NeoPath, Inc. Mr. Bateman began his career at Ernst & Young LLP in 1987 and is a graduate of Brigham Young University with M.S. and B.S. degrees in Accounting. He also holds both CPA and CMA certifications.

Mr. Bateman will replace Mr. Raymond Brandstrom, one of the original founders of Emeritus. Mr. Brandstrom will continue his employment with the Company in a new capacity as an advisor and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors.

 

Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation Announces Cary G. Clayborn as SQLC Charitable Foundation President

Senior living community developer Senior Quality Lifestyles Corporation (SQLC), parent company of Querencia at Barton Creek retirement community in Austin, has named Cary G. Clayborn president of the newly established SQLC Charitable Foundation.  In 2008, SQLC founded the SQLC Charitable Foundation, a nonprofit foundation that operates to make grants to and support programs and services that advance the interests of seniors, from Alzheimer’s research to education.

Clayborn is a Principal, Financial Advisor with Bernstein Global Wealth Management and Director of Institutional Investments with AllianceBernstein in Dallas, Texas. A West Point graduate with a degree in Biology/Chemistry, he obtained his business masters from Troy State. Following the military, he pursued medical sales, working with Johnson & Johnson in cardiology management and in training minimally invasive heart surgery. His philanthropic involvement is extensive, serving on boards for 15 nonprofits, including Edgemere, Querencia at Barton Creek, and The Stayton at Museum Way. Clayborn supports other charitable causes such as cancer, national security, athletics, film/television, education, business, brain health and evangelism. He has also served as the volunteer Philanthropic Consultant to Philanthropy World for the past nine years.
