Welsh Construction and Genesis Architecture Complete Minnesota Senior Living Facility For Walker Methodist

Welsh Construction and Genesis Architecture recently announced completion of Highview Hills by Walker, a 242,000-square-foot senior living community located in Lakeville, Minnesota. The facility, a 153-unit senior living community located on six acres, opened on October 1, 2009 and the construction of the project was completed in just over 12 months.  The three-story building includes 75 independent-living units, 44 assisted-living units, 24 memory care units, 10 assisted-living care suites, and two guest suites.  Financing for the project was made possible through a tax-exempt bond issue which covered nearly 95% of the total project costs including the bond reserves. It was the largest bond issued for a senior housing project in Minnesota in 2009.  The Highview Hills by Walker is owned and operated by Minneapolis-based Walker Methodist, which operates nine other senior living facilities in Minnesota.

“The Welsh team took the time to understand our operations and product to design and construct this building to meet the needs of our residents. The quality of construction and attention-to-detail was exceptional,” said Denny O’Donnell, Vice President, Walker ElderCare Services, Inc. “We highly recommend that any senior care provider engage Welsh to assist them with the development of any new senior living community or modifications to existing communities, and look forward to working with them on our next project breaking ground in Blaine next spring.”
