Edgewood Retirement Community in North Andover recently announced the grand opening for their new single family homes called the Villages at Edgewood. The residences will also have access to health services like a nurse practitioner on-site and entry into The Meadows, Edgewood’s skilled nursing facility. Members of the Edgewood Community get the unique LifeCare Return-of-Capital™ plan where 90% of their entrance fee is refunded to their estate when they are no longer living at Edgewood.
“When a person joins us at Edgewood they get a beautiful home and a great community,” said Marlene Rotering, Executive Director of Edgewood. “But they also get the peace of mind that they’re making a smart investment and will have access to the type of skilled nursing they may need in the future. This is a huge relief for our residents and their families and allows them to enjoy and relax … rather than worry.”
The homes are being constructed on the 300 year old Stevens Farmstead and have been designed by Dewing & Schmid Architects, Inc. of Concord, MA. The firm was specifically chosen for their strong reputation of quality and craftsmanship in the luxury, single- family home market feature ~1,750-2,450 sq ft of highly-livable, single-level space with natural light; tray ceilings, recessed lighting & specialty moldings; granite countertops, custom crafted wood built-ins, gas fireplaces, two-car garages and full basements. The homes were designed with carefree maintenance and green objectives in mind that include features such as Energy Star Certified, 95% efficient gas heating systems, cement fiber siding made of 30% post-industrial materials, and native red oak flooring which typically has a lower carbon footprint then something like bamboo.
“This is the first retirement community we’ve been involved in and we are delighted that together with Edgewood we have been able to strike an exciting and elegant balance between fine design and senior livability. This is a breakthrough approach that we hope the market and buyers will see more of,” said Jeff Dearing Principal, Dewing & Schmid.
