CareVirginia Plans to Build Comprehensive Senior Living and Nursing Care Facility

carevirginia Abingdon Health Care Center announced that it plans to file an application for a Certificate of Public Need with the Virginia Department of Health to build a 180-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. The center will be developed and operated by CareVirginia and Affiliates which is a part of the CareOne family of Senior Care Centers. In addition to the proposed 180-bed nursing and rehabilitation center, the project will also include independent living cottages, independent living apartments and an assisted living center for a comprehensive "aging in place" community.  In conjunction with this development, Valley Health Care Center will be expanded to accommodate additional assisted living facility units, including assisted living accommodations, and expanded rehabilitation services, in order to better meet the ongoing needs in Smyth County and the surrounding area.  Additionally, Abingdon Health Care Center will offer respite care services which provides caregivers temporary care options for their elderly loved ones when they need to take a break from care giving or need to be away from home for a short period of time.

"The Abingdon and Valley Health Care Centers’ programs are being modeled after other programs operated by CareVirginia. They will allow for access to true state-of-the-art senior care services designed to meet the area’s growing needs while remaining fairly priced for all area residents," said Tim Hodges, Chief Marketing Officer.
