Lutheran Community Home celebrated its ground breaking June 22, 2009, for the renovation of the healthcare center and an addition of assisted living apartments and a expanded rehabilitation unit. The existing facility’s renovation and the addition of the healthcare center includes updating the interior finishes; increasing the number of private rooms from 13 to 33, eliminating shared bathrooms; providing new dining, shower and bath facilities; centralizing the administrative area; and providing new medicine preparation and storage. The addition of assisted living apartments offers 33 new apartments, dining facilities, theatre, fitness facility and library to the existing community.
InterDesign, the architecture firm selected for the renovation and addition, assisted Lutheran Community to solve many of the challenges they faced by modernizing the existing skilled nursing facility; creating a more homelike environment throughout; increasing the resident living and common spaces; and connecting the existing skilled nursing and independent living apartments.
