Late last month Cherry Gardens, a 42-unit apartment community dedicated to serving seniors with low incomes, celebrated its groundbreaking in Charlotte, North Carolina. The Affordable Housing Group of North Carolina, Inc. and StoneHunt, LLC have teamed up to provide this senior apartment complex as parts of their efforts to implement a neighborhood revitalization strategy, which seeks to maintain a variety of affordable housing options in Cherry. The apartment complex will be available to seniors whose income meets guidelines for the area’s affordable and low-income housing criteria.
The City of Charlotte Housing Trust Fund, North Carolina Housing Finance Agency, Federal Home Loan Bank of Atlanta, Bank of America and RBC Capital Markets assisted with financing the project. “These organizations have enabled us to provide new environmentally sensitive apartments that are affordable to low-income seniors on fixed incomes”, Paul Woollard, Executive Director of The Affordable Housing Group of NC, Inc., said today.
