Birchez Kicks Off $15 Million Affordable Senior Housing Project In New York

Birchez Associates LLC, announced the start of construction for of The Birches at Chambers, a $15 million, green-friendly 66-unit development for seniors. The new senior housing project will be LEED® certified and comprised 52 one-bedroom and 14 two-bedroom units. Eight of the units will be income directed and the remaining 58 units are set according to an income-based formula, and will range from $596 to $712 for the one-bedroom units and $750 to $895 for the two-bedroom units. The new facility will be adjacent to Birchez’ Chambers Court senior community. Additionally, the firm announced a partnership with Elant, Inc. that will provide on-site medical services as well as personal support to residents of The Birches at Chambers. Elant, which serves more than 3,000 people on any given day through its campuses of care, home-care agencies and community services, will provide physical and speech therapy, health-care aides, wellness and health education programs, as well as other services.

“Today is a milestone,” said Steve Aaron, Birchez founder and managing partner. “This is our fifth development providing housing for families and seniors. When this project is complete, Birchez will be responsible for 358 units providing homes for up to 750 elderly and families. As we continue adding more units for seniors, the partnership with Elant fulfills an aspiration to provide high-quality, on-site medical care and lifestyle support for residents of our age-in-place communities.”
