Canadian Affordable Seniors’ Housing Ideas Design Competition Announced

The Atlantic Seniors Housing Research Alliance recently announced its Affordable Seniors’ Housing Ideas Design Competition in conjunction with its ASHRA Seniors Housing Needs Conference scheduled for May 2009 in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The competition is designed to study the housing needs of aging Atlantic Canadians over the next 20 years and what kinds of housing options are currently available and what will those options look like 2o years from now. The research project involves over 75 organizations and five universities from Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Newfoundland & Labrador and Prince Edward Island. The competition will be judged on various criteria including the Rowntree Lifetime Homes and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation’s (CMHC’s) Four Principles of Flex Housing.
