Census Data Shows Little Migration Growth

Last month, the US Census Bureau released its report on the fastest growing states in the nation between July 1, 2007, and July 1, 2008. The reports break down between the Top Ten Fastest Growing States and the Top Ten Numeric Gainers. While that data does not specifically breakdown ages, the trend from July 2006 – July 2007 vs. the latest data shows a slow down in migration to warmer weather states. Reasonable speculation would indicate that the economic and housing issues plaguing the nation are currently slowing the migration for both younger Americans and seniors looking to relocate for retirement.
