Defending Raising Wages For Nursing Home Employees

There was a letter to the editor posted in the Dallas Morning News responding to an article covering the release of the report stating that 90% of nursing homes were not providing adequate care.  The letter was written by Nursing Home Wage Letter to Editor a husband and wife couple that have parents in nursing homes.  The best line in the letter is "Nursing home employees often choose to work in fast-food restaurants, which have similar pay rates, but it’s easier to turn hamburgers than to turn patients to prevent bedsores."  Not sure about the going rate of health care providers in Texas but the quote sure puts the problem in perspective bluntly.  To read the letter, click here.
