New Orleans builders will break ground this summer on a $22-million gated community on the North Shore available exclusively to people 55 years and older. Maison du Lac will have 269 one-story detached homes and 151 condos, which will sell for between $200,000 for a condo and $500,000 for a three-bedroom home. Thirty six percent of Louisiana’s population is over 55 and the trend is continuing to grow. Louisiana has similar communities in South Bossier, Gonzalez and Ferriday, no developer has attempted this kind of luxury age-restricted community in the New Orleans metropolitan area.
