Leisure Care Names Management Team for New High-Rise

Leisure Care has appointed three executives to lead Murano, its new 24-story senior living community slated to open in Seattle this fall.

The company named Bruce McCurdy as general manager, Susan White as sales manager and Mindy Walker as assistant general manager.

As general manager, McCurdy will oversee all of the community’s departments. He comes to Leisure Care from the Crowne Plaza hotel in Seattle, where he worked as a food and beverage director and executive committee member.

White will manage the community’s sales. She previously worked as a sales and marketing manager at Mirabella, a Pacific Retirement Services community in Seattle. Before that, White worked with Leisure Care at three different communities around the area.

Walker, meanwhile, has 11 years of experience at Leisure Care. She’s also held many roles throughout the assisted living industry, such as senior living advisor.

Asbury Foundation Announces New CEO, President

J.D. Shuman is returning to Asbury Communities as president and CEO of the Asbury Foundation.

Shuman will in his new role lead the organization, which supports benevolent care needs across Asbury’s seven CCRCs in Maryland, Pennsylvania, Oklahoma and Tennessee.

Shuman is no stranger to Asbury. He spent 10 years with the senior living nonprofit before taking a job as the president of the Homewood Foundation in 2017.

Former Asbury Foundation CEO to Lead Westminster Ingleside Foundation

Asbury Foundation’s former CEO, Doug Myers, is joining the Westminster Ingleside Foundation as president and CEO.

Westminster Ingleside Foundation is the not-for-profit organization managed and overseen by Washington, D.C.-based Ingleside. In his new role, Myers will lead the organization as it supports Ingleside’s residents who outlive their income and assets, helps improve the quality of care and builds an endowment.

Erickson Living CCRC Names Director of Sales, Sales Manager

Oak Crest, an Erickson Living continuing care retirement community (CCRC) in Parkville, Maryland, has promoted Dan Plakatoris to the role of sales director and Josh Runkles to the position of sales manager.

Plakatoris has worked with the senior living provider for five years, first as sales manager and then associate director of sales. Runkles first began his career with Erickson as Oak Crest’s community TV production coordinator, and later became community TV and A/V manager.

Cadence Names Executive Director for California Community

Cadence Millbrae, a Cadence Living community in Millbrae, California, recently welcomed Kiel Stromgren as a new executive director.

Kiel previously worked as executive director for two nearby Atria communities, Atria Burlingame and Atria at Foster Square. He’s also worked in the home health care sector as an executive director and client relations director.

Singh Names Executive Director, IL Manager in North Carolina

Waltonwood Cary Parkway, a Singh Senior Living community in Cary, North Carolina, has hired Mercedes Richards to the role of independent living manager and Matthew VanAuker as executive director.

As executive director, VanAuker managed the community’s operations and provides support to each of its departments. He previously worked as a wellness coach, resident services manager, executive director, and associate executive director for Waltonwood Senior Living.

In her new role, Richards will help lead customer service for residents, with a primary focus on keeping them satisfied and engaged. She is the community’s first independent living manager.

Planned San Diego Life Plan Community Hires Executive Director

The Glen at Scripps Ranch, a new life plan community set to open later this year in the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego, has hired Meegan Kline as its executive director.

Kline will look after the planning, performance and review of the community’s departments and operations. She also will manage the community’s finances.

Kline previously was executive director at Greenwood Village South in Greenwood, Indiana.

Weitz Bolsters Senior Living Business Development Team

General contractor and construction management firm The Weitz Company has added Nadine De Nicola as a business development manager on its senior living business development team.

In her new role, De Nicola will work with senior living developers, owners and operators alongside executive vice president Chris Harrison and vice president Ben Bruns.

De Nicola has seven years of experience in the senior living industry with previous stints at the Ensign Group and Direct Supply.

GlynnDevins Names Chief Technology, Revenue Officers

Senior living marketing services firm GlynnDevins has appointed Dennis Ehrich Jr. as its new chief technology officer and Paul Hunt as chief revenue officer.

Ehrich ​has more than 25 years of experience, including in management consulting and new product development. He most recently was the chief technology officer and chief product officer at Service Management Group.

Hunt has worked as a global sales director and chief revenue officer at companies that include Perceptive Software, now called Lexmark; SMG and legal software firm High Q.

Regenstrief’s Center for Aging Research Names Director

Dr. Susan Hickman will lead the Indiana University Center for Aging Research at the Regenstrief Institute as the center’s second-ever director.

Hickman, a clinical geropsychologist, has previously focused on improving the quality of life for older adults with better decision-making and communication about treatment preferences. She’s also worked extensively in advance care planning.

Hickman’s is currently a professor in the Indiana University School of Nursing and a co-director of the IUPUI RESPECT (Research in Palliative and End-of Life Communicating and Training) Signature Center, among other titles. She will also serve as a professor at the IU School of Medicine and in the Cornelius and Yvonne Pettinga Chair in Aging Research.
