Senior Lifestyle Associates Names Executive Vice President

Senior Lifestyle Associates, Inc., a Delaware corporation engaged in the acquisition and management of senior living facilities through the United States, has appointed Douglas F. Gass as executive vice president. 

Gass has over 25 years of experience in capital markets, including institutional sales, investment banking and corporate finance. He was previously the director of the Aeon Family of Funds and chair of Flow Funds, Inc. Gass also co-founded M.S. Farrell & Company, a Wall Street-based regional investment bank and broker-dealer, in 1990. He served as the managing director of investment banking there as the company grew to over 350 employees and had over $1 billion in asset management.

“Doug is a great addition to the team,” Alfonso J. Cervantes, Senior Lifestyle CEO, said in a prepared statement. “Senior living is a rapidly increasing industry with unprecedented demand for senior housing due to an explosive demographic drive by the ‘graying of America’ and Doug’s banking experience will provide substantial resources to the group as we execute our national consolidation strategy.”

Lancaster Pollard Announces Two New Hires

Lancaster Pollard, a financial advice and financing solutions company, announced two new hires: David Bonomo has been appointed senior vice president in a new office in New Jersey, and Rob McAdams has been hired to open a new Denver office for the firm.

Bonomo will expand the firms’ investment banking and mortgage banking finance activities for market-rate, income-restricted and subsidized rental properties in Connecticut, Delaware, New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He joins Lancaster Pollard from the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency (NJHMFA), where he was chief financial officer since 2010 and presided over the agency’s $4 billion balance sheet.

McAdams will oversee the structuring and funding of health care project financings for hospitals and senior living providers in Colorado, Wyoming, Montana and Idaho. Prior to joining Lancaster Pollard, McAdams served as a partner at U.S. Hotel Advisors in Denver. In that role, he oversaw all areas of hotel debt and equity financing transactions, including new business generation, negation of financing terms, selection of capital providers and orchestration of closing processes.

The LaSalle Group Names David Starr as Senior Vice President and General Counsel

David Starr has been promoted to senior vice president and general counsel at The LaSalle Group, Inc., a senior living operator with more than 40 “Autumn Leaves” residential memory care communities nationwide.

In this new role, Starr will serve as the company’s highest ranking legal officer and will report directly to Mitchell Warren, CEO and co-owner of The LaSalle Group. Starr will continue to oversee the legal department that oversees Autumn Leaves, The LaSalle Group and its four corporate brand divisions: Winfield Design, LLC; MWW Development, LLC; Lake Superior Contracting, LP; and Constant Care Family Management. He will also lead the company’s risk management program and serve as corporate secretary.

Starr previously served as vice president and deputy general counsel for Belo Corporation and as in-house counsel for American Airlines as an attorney with the international law firm of White & Case. He joined The LaSalle Group in 2014.

AdCare Appoints Two New Board of Directors

AdCare Health Systems, Inc., a self-managed health care real estate company invested in senior living and long-term care, announced it has appointed Thomas W. Knaup and Allan J. Rimland to the Board of Directors.

Knaup will serve as an independent director, bringing his 30 years of experience and consulting expertise. He was employed with Aon, California—a division of Aon corporation— for 12 years, where he held leadership positions including senior vice president.

Rimland has served as AdCare’s president and chief financial officer since April 2015. He has more than 20 years of healthcare services investment banking experience. He previously served as managing director in the Healthcare Group at Stephens Inc.

Two board members, Christopher Brogdon and Philip Radcliffe, recently decided to retire from the board.

VillagePlan Hires Dr. Rajni Aneja as Strategic Advisor 

VillagePlan, a national network of professional care managers providing support to families seeking aging care solutions, has hired Dr. Rajni Aneja to serve as a strategic advisor. 

In her new role, Dr. Aneja will help introduce VillagePlan to boost partnerships with hospitals and other health care delivery channels.

“Fragmentation of client medical care is a problem that impedes good medicine and client self-management of chronic conditions; the expertise and experience of Dr. Aneja will further strengthen the impact of VillagePlan’s care management deliver,” Linda Fodrini-Johnson, chief professional officer at VillagePlan, said in a statement.

Dr. Aneja previously served as chief strategic advisor at Joslin Diabetes Center; as a contributor and advisor at the Harvard Innovation Lab; and as an advisory board member at Staywell Health Management. She was also a member of the editorial board at Population Health Journal. She actively contributes to Care Continuum Alliance and the American College of Physician Executives.  

Satellite Healthcare Appoints Marsha Dodd as Chief Business Integration and Strategic Relationship Officer 

Satellite Healthcare, the nation’s seventh-largest provider of patient-centered dialysis and kidney disease services, appointed Marsha Dodd as chief business integration and strategic relationship officer, the first position of its kind.

Dodd joined Satellite Healthcare in March 2005 as vice president of value-based care and has more than 25 years of management experience. In this new position, Dodd will develop and lead the business integration team and initiatives for the transition of new business ventures with integrated health systems, medical groups and health plans entering into strategic partnerships with the company. She will also be in charge of the organization’s improvement council and innovation council, which work to enhance the quality of care and services delivered to the 6,800 patients reached by Satellite Healthcare.

Dodd previously served as vice president of corporate development and hospital services at DaVita Healthcare Partners. 

Windsor Park Hires New Associate Executive Director

Andrew Clauson has been hired as associate executive director at Windsor Park, a non-profit continuing care retirement community in Carol Stream, Illinois. The community is administered by Convenant Retirement Communities, a national non-profit senior living provider that serves 5,000 residents at 14 communities nationwide.

Clauson will assist the executive director with all aspects of community management and oversee dining services, facilities management, resident services, residential nursing and catered living.

Clauson was most recently vice president of operations at Aramark (NYSE: ARMK), a global customer service business, where he led the largest facilities project and managed more than 550 buildings and 55 million square feet within the Chicago Public Schools system. 

Century Park Associates Names Jenny Graham as Director of Operations

Jenny Graham has been promoted to director of operations for Century Park Associates, a Tennessee-based senior living provider that manages more than 40 communities in 20 states. Graham has 17 years of experience in health care and senior living communities.

Graham previously led the company’s Mountain Region and was based in Aurora, Colorado. In her new role, she will oversee, support and encourage the executive directors and associates across the company’s communities and independent living centers. 

She was first hired by Century Park as a regional vice president for Life Care Centers of America, which shares campuses with Century Park at a number of locations. She transitioned from the Mountain States Division at Life Care to Century Park. 

Deerfield Retirement Community Hires New Executive Director

James Robinson has been hired as executive director at Deerfield Retirement Community, a senior living community in Urbandale, Iowa, that offers independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing suites. 

Robinson was previously chief operating officer and vice president of operations with Christian Homes, Inc. and Wesley Retirement Services. He also has experience developing industry-leading standards and systems.
