Isaac Losh Joins Senior Star as Vice President of Acquisitions

Senior Star, a Tulsa, Oklahoma-based real estate services company committed to senior housing, announced Isaac Losh has joined the company as vice president of acquisitions. 

In this position, Losh will focus on aspects of the acquisition/merger life cycle, including the identification, underwriting and execution of acquisitions, joint ventures and related activities.

He joins the company after working together as joint venture partners through his previous position with Health Care REIT (NYSE:HCN), Senior Star’s primary capital partner. 

Prior to entering the business world, Losh was a police officer for New York State.

Ryan Companies US Hires Director of Architecture – Senior Living

Minneapolis-based Ryan Companies US, Inc. — a national developer, designer, capital investment consultant, builder and real estate manager — announced John Gould has been hired as director of architecture for senior living. 

In his new position, Gould will be responsible for design leadership on all senior living projects from pursuits to turnover. Additional responsibilities include building relationships with customers, overseeing conceptual design and construction documents, mentoring staff and supporting marketing and business development activities. 

Gould brings to the position more than 30 years of experience and is a recognized leader in the senior living and care market. He has design background in retail, office, adaptive/re-use, housing and mixed-use. 

Elder Care Alliance Announces Julie Podewitz as Vice President of Sales, Marketing

Elder Care Alliance, a nonprofit system of assisted living and memory care communities in the San Francisco Bay Area, announced that Julie Podewitz has been appointed to vice president of sales and marketing. 

In this position, Podewitz will create and implement a branded internal training system that will align with Elder Care Alliance’s strategic growth plan. 

Podewitz brings to the position experience as an executive and sales coach, and has worked with more than 1,000 individual communities in all product types, including continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs), independent living, assisted living, memory care and skilled nursing. 

LCB Senior Living Names New Chief Financial Officer

Norwood, Massachusetts-based senior living developer and operator LCB Senior Living, LLC has announced that Tim DuRoss has been named chief financial officer. 

DuRoss’ responsibilities include overseeing LCB’s strategic and operational financial planning, budgeting process, tracking and reporting of financial results, accounting practices, internal controls, information technology and relationships with financial institutions, partners and lenders.

DuRoss has been involved in the senior housing industry for more than 13 years and brings more than 18 years of financial experience to LCB. Prior to joining LCB, DuRoss was the senior director of portfolio accounting at Benchmark Senior Living. DuRoss oversaw the accounting practices, internal control procedures, treasury and financial reporting of 49 communities. He was also responsible for the strategic planning and budgeting for the management company.

Prior to joining Benchmark Senior Living DuRoss was employed by Ziner, Kennedy and Lehan LLP where he oversaw audit engagements concentrating in real estate with tax credit implications, nonprofits and defined benefit plans.

South Dakota Retirement Community Names Director of Operations 

Aberdeen, South Dakota-based Primrose Retirement Communities has promoted Jim Heller to director of operations. 

Heller will oversee the company’s operations department, which manages the 30 Primrose locations across the country. 

He previously served as one of five operations managers at Primrose and was responsible for the management of six Primrose communities. He takes the position of Mike Bockorny, who accepted a position with the Aberdeen Development Corp. 

The Terraces at Bonita Springs Names New Director of Sales, Marketing 

The Terraces at Bonita Springs, a Florida-based not-for-profit senior living community, has hired Roni Icso as the community’s new director of sales and marketing. 

In her new position, Icso will lead the sales and marketing teams responsible for educating active seniors in Southwest Florida about the benefits of a CCRC. 

Icso brings more than 10 years of experience in senior living to The Terraces. She previously held top marketing positions at GreenFields of Geneva in Geneva, Ill., and Clare Oaks retirement community in Bartlett, Ill.

She also has a variety of experience in the senior living and health care fields, having previously served as manager of a home-based health care service with Lutheran Life Communities, as a medical sales representative for Lincare Holdings and as an exercise physiologist for Alliance Rehab.
