Two Senior Living Communities OK’d for Burleson, TX
Proposals for two different senior living communities were approved this week for Burleson, Texas, reports Burleson Star.
Mariposa Apartment Homes is the first of the two projects. The proposal calls for four three-story buildings with 180 units, a dog park, pavilion, walking course, gaming and exercise facilities all situated on an 18.1 acre site.
The second proposal will see the development of an assisted living facility on 4.7 acres across from Burleson High School, a project that will encompass an estimated 40,000-square-feet and will offer 60 beds.
Developers for the projects were not disclosed.
Vacant New York School to Undergo $45 Million Senior Living Conversion
New York’s Hempstead Town Board approved a plan this week that will transform a vacant school building in Seaford, NY, into a $45 million senior housing complex, reports Newsday.
The Board approved a request from BK at Seaford LLC, a subsidiary of The Engel Burman Group, to change the zoning from residential to senior housing for the vacant school.
The zoning change will make way for the development of The Seasons at Seaford, a 112-unit condo complex for residents age 62 and older.
Developers hope to break ground by the end of the year, according to comments made by Jason Burman, president of The Engel Burman Group, in the article.

Sunrise Moving Forward with Two Assisted Living Projects
Sunrise Senior Living (NYSE:SRZ) is moving forward with construction on two communities that will offer assisted living and memory care in Burlingame, California and Dublin, Ohio.
Sunrise of Burlingame will be a four-story community located on Trousdale Drive, just two blocks off of El Camino Real and convenient to area health care centers, the company announced in a release.
Sunrise of Dublin, on the other hand, will be a three-story building near medical office buildings and retail locations.
Both communities will have approximately 80 units and feature flexible spaces to accommodate a variety of memory care neighborhoods and programs. Additional amenities include Wi-Fi connectivity throughout the campus, electronic health records systems, perimeter security and e-call systems, as well as custom-designed furnishings and decor.
Both the Burlingame and Dublin communities are expected to begin serving residents in the summer of 2015.
Development costs for each of the properties were not disclosed.
The Douglas Company Bringing $4.7 Million Memory Care Community to Florida
Construction is underway on Mission Oaks II, The Douglas Company Orlando’s newest memory care community located in Oxford, Florida.
The $4.7 million facility calls for new construction of a 28,452-square-foot facility comprised of 31 units with a total of 34 beds.
When completed, the community will feature amenities such as a music room, beauty salon, spa, community dining area and a courtyard equipped with a putting green and fountain. The project scope also calls for the creation of an internal Adult Day Care Center and a neurologist office.
Mission Oaks II is Douglas’ second for owner Oxford V, and is on-pace to be completed by the end of this year.
Architectural Concepts, Inc. provided architectural design for the project.
Brightview Senior Living Nears Completion on 90-Unit NJ Community
Brightview Senior Living, the senior housing arm of Baltimore-based developer The Shelter Group, is prepping to open one component of a 90-unit assisted living community in Tenafly, New Jersey, reports NorthJersey.com.
Brightview Tenafly is scheduled to open in early 2015, however, the community’s Welcome Center is set to open this month to service inquiries.
The Tenafly development is the fourth Brightview community in New Jersey.
Hacienda Del Rey Breaks Ground on 40-Bed Assisted Living Project in Arizona
Hacienda Del Rey, LLC, has broken ground on a new assisted living community for Litchfield Park, Arizona, which it will manage upon opening.
The 40-bed community will feature one-story buildings with 10 private, one-bedroom units adjacent to a common living that will feature 14-foot ceilings in the kitchen and dining rooms.
Amenities will include luxury finishes such as granite countertops, custom cabinetry and personal wall niches for residents to display photos and other memorabilia. Additionally, the community will also house reflexology rooms and a beauty salon.
The Hacienda Del Rey community was collaboratively designed with Philip Graham Combs Architects, BNL Capital Design on interior design work and DECCA Multi-Family Builders, Inc. as general contractor.
Upon opening, Careco Senior Services, an in-home care and assistance provider, will provide senior care at the community.
The development is scheduled to be complete in early 2015.

The Bristal Assisted Living Opens First NJ Community
The Bristal Assisted Living celebrated the grand opening of its tenth community, and first in New Jersey, last week: The Bristal at Woodcliff Lake.
Situated on 4.2 acres, the $40 million community offers 124 assisted living suites and 32 additional suites located in the building’s Reflections Memory Care area dedicated to providing care for residents living with various forms of dementia.
Amenities include an outdoor heated pool, fitness studio, arts and crafts, book clubs, shopping trips and regularly scheduled cultural outings, according to a release from the company.
Additional amenities available for resident use also include a cinema, library and billiards room.
Stroud Companies Opens Sonoma House Assisted Living Carrollton, Texas
Dallas-based Stroud Companies announced last week the grand opening of its newest project, Sonoma House Assisted Living & Alzheimer Care in Carrollton, Texas.
The estimated $12 million construction project is situated on a 7.5 acre site in close proximity to Baylor Medical Center, retail attraction The Shops at Willow Bend and nearby access to the Dallas North Tollway.
Sonoma House is made up of seven individual houses set along a private, tree-lined street. Each 8,500-square-foot home has 16 bedrooms with their own private bathroom, a salon and a landscaped backyard with a walking path and fountains.
In total, the community will serve 64 assisted living residents and 48 memory care residents.
Commonwealth Senior Living Completes $2 Million Va. Community Remodeling
Commonwealth Senior Living recently announced the grand opening of its latest community, Georgian Manor, following the completion of a $2 million remodel that positions the community to better meet the needs of residents.
An additional 10,000-square-feet of new assisted living units have been added to the community, as well as improvements that include a new dining room, living room and nurses station. Renovations to the community kitchen and courtyard were also completed.
