Care Innovations announced Thursday that Louis Burns will be retiring from his post of chief executive officer after 30 years with Intel and the Intel-GE collaboration. The company’s board of directors has named Sean Slovenski as the next CEO.
Slovenski joins Care Innovations from Humana, where he served as Segment Vice President of Humana’s Health and Productivity Solutions business group. In this role, he led hundreds of employees in four industry-leading wellness businesses.
Prior to Humana, Slovenski was co-founder and CEO of Hummingbird Coaching Services, a company that provided online coaching and behavior management services that was sold to Humana in 2010. Under his management, Hummingbird transitioned from regional start-up to market leader, ultimately servicing more than three million lives in multiple international markets.
“Sean’s track record of building pioneering start-up ventures, combined with leadership in large regional health systems and health plans, makes him perfect for this role,” said Tom Gentile, Chairman of the Board for Care Innovations and President and CEO of GE Healthcare’s Healthcare Systems division, in a statement. “After a thorough selection process, we’re thrilled that Sean will bring his passion and love of innovation to Care Innovations.”
Care Innovations’ board of directors identified Slovenski as Burns’ successor after conducing a nationwide search with active involvement from Burns himself.

Burns’ retirement caps a nearly 30-year career at Intel Corporation, including the three years he has spent heading Care Innovations. While at Intel, Burns served as the company’s chief information officer, as well as vice president and general manager of several major businesses, including the digital health group—the company’s first health-focused business group.
Slovenski will take over as CEO in mid-October, and Burns will stay involved with the company through the end of the year to ensure a smooth transition.
