Portland’s Curotek Technology Brings a New Way to Care for Alzheimer’s Residents at Blue Horizon

curotek Blue Horizon, located in Enterprise, Oregon is the first small Alzheimer’s and other dementia unit in Oregon to have received "On the Move" funding from Oregon DHS. Oregon DHS has chosen to install this latest in memory care technology so that these Elders don’t need to be locked-down and yet are provided with the highest level of safety.  All residents and staff members wear a pendant that is tracked electronically and the monitors show every person’s position within the home. Alerts prevent wandering and quickly signal staff if there is a problem. The pendant also provides a call button that is with the resident at all times and gives them quick-response assistance whenever needed (wireless Nurse Call). Door Exit alerts, personal checks and Egress Keypad/PIN control prevent the residents from elopement.

Curotek was selected for the installation of Curotek’s CARE System that provides a full range of online components for the resident’s social interactions, time spent with care-givers, sleep patterns, and trends indicating levels of activity and health. Curotek was spun off from Elite Care’s Oatfield Estates in Portland, Oregon where the CARE System was developed and perfected for over 9 years. Curotek is offering the CARE System to long term care facilities, memory care facilities, and MR/DD facilities throughout the world.  All data is electronically collected by the software/hardware installation and translated into easy to understand visuals and graphics available online. Manager’s of Long Term Care (LTC) facilities say they love the Care Notes, a portion of the system where staff input and access information about residents reducing the paperwork and facilitating the sharing of data.  The data can be archived easily to provide information to families, managers and regulators.
