Cook County Sheriff has announced its suspending evictions for foreclosures where lenders do not provide adequate notice to people that are living in houses as a tenant rather than the owner. The sheriff’s office has seen almost double the number of foreclosures from last year and the suspension on evictions has received a large amount of coverage in the local media. Many of the evictions are turning out to be people that are renting and making their payments to the landlord but the landlord has been absconding with the money rather than making the mortgage payments. A large number of these evictions are resulting in unsuspecting tenants, some of which are seniors, that have no place to go when the sheriff shows up.
