Senior Housing Daily Stock Index

We’re proud to announce our Senior Housing Index of publicly traded stocks.  We’ve selected 10 publicly traded entities to follow that have major components of their businesses associated with Senior Housing, Senior Retirement Communities, Senior Living Projects (Assisted & Skilled Care) and the Aging process.  We welcome input from our readers as to our selection of equities and we will continue to post on various events, earnings releases and any other items of interest that we feel might be of value in tracking the trends of the broader industry, both in the United States and internationally.   Here is our initial list of equities:

Senior Housing Properties Trust (SNH) – 23.01
Health Care Property Investors, Inc – (HCP) – 34.4
Health Care REIT, Inc. (HCN) – 45.07
LTC Properties, Inc (LTC) – 24.76
Brookdale Senior Living (BKD) - 27.85
Sunrise Senior Living (SRZ) – 29.25
Assisted Living Concepts (ALC) – 7.11
Ventas – VTR – 44.34
Health Care Realty Trust, Inc (HR) – 25.16
Nationwide Health Properties (NHP) – 31.27

The initial non-weighted index was calculated at 292.22 as of January 2, 2008.  We’ll update the index quarterly to track these company’s stock prices and keep our readers up to date on earnings announcements and other relevant information on these companies.
